Glee‘s Jane Lynch has signed on to the global boycott of Amway Corp. in response to company president Doug DeVos’ personal donation of $500,000 to a conservative group that has worked to ban same-sex marriage. Lynch “grabbed the pen out of my hand and signed away [on a postcard to Amway Corp.],” said LGBT rights activist Fred Karger, explaining the actress’ response when he asked for her support of the boycott he started in early August. It extends to parent company Alticor and all other DeVos family businesses, including the Orlando Magic basketball team. The postcard signed by Lynch, a high-profile gay activist, is one of 50 Karger said he has gathered and sent to DeVos so far; including The A-List‘s Reichen Lehmkuhl. “I’m wondering what Mr. DeVos thinks when he gets these postcards in the mail,” said Karger.

Amway has responded to a call for a global boycott of the direct sale giant by saying DeVos has a right to do what he wants to with his personal money.  In fact, the company points out the owners “believe the highest calling of any individual is to express their own personal beliefs.” The company declined to say whether it has felt any impact from the boycott. Amway’s founding families have never been shy about their conservative views, and they have given to many conservatives causes over the years. [RightsEqualRights.com]
