Music legend Janet Jackson is set be an executive producer for an upcoming transgender documentary called Truth. The film will tell the stories of transgender people across the world—from North and Latin America to Europe and Australia. This will be Jackson’s first role as an executive producer. According to New York-based Brainchild Films and Rolling Stone, Jackson is already working on the film, and will conduct some on-camera interviews for the documentary.
“I’ve been fortunate to make friends and learn about very different lives. Truth is our small chance to ask that you try and understand someone who lives their life in a way that is a little bit different from yours, even though all of our hearts are the same,” she said in a statement. “We want to stop the hate and find understanding.”
Truth will start production this summer and will be directed by Robert Jason. Jason is a former staff producer for MTV Networks, whose previous work includes the Style Network documentary “Style Exposed: Born Male, Living Female,” which was about four transgender New Yorkers.
