The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning with major nods going to the LGBT film Moonlight and the original musical La La Land. For television, the breakout hit, This is US received best drama nod and recognition of two of its actresses, Chrissy Metz and Mandy Moore.
It was also a big year for the non-primetime networks with streaming services like Netflix and Amazon, as well as cable receiving most of the nominations. The Crown, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Westworld, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, and Veep, all were nominated.
This year, Jimmy Fallon hosts the anything-can-happen-when-there-is-wine-at-the-table award show on January 8.
