A lesbian Muslim character on Freeform’s The Bold Type has sparked controversy online.
Adena, played by Canadian-Iranian actress Nikohl Boosheri, has had a lot of online support with some calling her “bad ass” while others say she is a “disrespectful portrayal.” In an interview with The Cut eight LGBT Muslim women responded positively cheering on the representation that is lacking in American entertainment.
