Levi Strauss & Co. has teamed up with the Harvey Milk Foundation to roll out a new Pride 2016 collection just in time for summer.
Likening to the classic, tousled style of the Castro, Levi’s new line samples ringer tees and tank tops emblazoned line-drawn milk bottles. Scrawled on the back of each tee and tank is a timeline of foremost events in the U.S. campaign for LGBT rights, which includes Milk’s election to office in 1977, emboldened in red.
Also featured: a washed-out jean jacket with Milk’s now-iconic “Hope will never be silent” quote plastered on its back side, stonewashed shorts with a rainbow sticked to peak out of the watch pocket, among other tees, baseball caps, and bandanas with the Levi’s Pride batwing.
Levi’s will also donate a portion of the proceeds on sales off its third-ever Pride collection to the Harvey Milk Foundation, in an increased effort to raise aware on LGBT issues.
In a statement, a company spokesperson said, “The Levi’s x Harvey Milk Foundation Pride 2016 collection is the physical representation of Levi’s belief in equality for all people while continuing the legacy of one outspoken, courageous, and pioneering individual whose inspiring example will never be forgotten.”
