With a slew of gay-fronted sitcoms getting the ax in recent years (Sean Saves the World
, The New Normal
, and, most likely, The McCarthys
), it seems like a bold move for ABC to pick up a comedy based on the life of LGBT activist and journalist Dan Savage. The half-hour show will only be loosely based on his life, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Adding that it will be: “a single-camera semi-autobiographical entry based on the LGBT activist/boundary-pushing columnist’s life. It centers on a picture-perfect family that is turned upside down when the youngest son comes out of the closet. What seems like the end of their idyllic life turns out to be the beginning of a bright new chapter when everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real.”
Now, who do we think could pull off playing Savage?
