‘Love, Simon’ Actors Take Home ‘Best Kiss’ at MTV Movie Awards

“You can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love, no matter what gender they are,” Love, Simon‘s star Keiynan Lonsdale said after he accepted the award for “Best Kiss” at this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Nick Robinson and Keiynan Lonsdale made gay history by taking home the statue (they weren’t the first same-sex kiss to win though, that honor goes to Cruel Intentions).

The film is widely considered to be the first mainstream teen movie to focus on a gay love story.

“You can live your dreams and wear dresses. You can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love, no matter what gender they are,” said Lonsdale. “You can live your dreams and believe in magic. You can live your dreams and be yourself.”
