‘Love, Simon’ Gets Banned in India on Release Day

Theatergoers were shocked to find out that the gay-focused blockbuster Love, Simon would not be released as planned the day of its release. The story, which focuses on a secretive online romance and the trials of coming out, was supposed to come out June 1, but instead Indians found that the film would be delayed indefinitely. The Central Board of Film Certification, it appears, banned the film due to its gay content.

The LGBT community is hoping to overturn this decision by using the hashtag  #ReleaseLoveSimoninIndia and #LoveSimon.
