Get ready for the return of the annual MiFo LGBT Film Festival in Greater Fort Lauderdale! The internationally acclaimed film festival will run from October 7-16, with a new host of events and figures.
The festival starts off with a bang at the NSU Art Museum with a screening of Strike A Pose that follows seven male dancers who once performed on Madonna’s world tour, and who now fight for gay rights. Kevin Stea, one of the dancers who has gone on to create an illustrious career, will make a special appearance at the festival on October 7.
Over 30 films will be screened, all exploring the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender experience. There will be plenty of opportunities for the audience to meet and mingle with directors and actors, such as the Opening Night Party on October 7, the Centerpiece Party on October 13, and the closing awards ceremony on October 16.
The film festival will conclude by showing the award-winning film Pushing Dead, a dark comedy about an HIV-positive writer navigating the twisted modern medical system. Screenings throughout the week will take place at the NSU Art Museum, The Classic Gateway Theatre, Cinema Paradiso, and the Gallery of Amazing Things.
