Vegas casinos might be free from organized crime these days, but the Mafia is going to be making a comeback in Sin City with the opening of The Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas.
Headed by creative director Dr. Dennis Barrie—whose other projects have included the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and D.C.’s International Spy Museum—The Mob Museum will tell the riveting story of the Mafia in Las Vegas, a their decades-long scheme that resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars being taken from Vegas Casinos. The museum will also chronicle the pursuit of these criminals by law enforcement, as well as the impact the mob has had on the world.
The museum is currently under construction at the site of a former federal courthouse that housed the trials of numerous mob kingpins. It is scheduled to open on February 14, 2012.
