It’s a disturbing statistic that gay youths are more likely to commit suicide than their straight counterparts, but a new study finds that problem to be even worse than previously thought. Gay youths are six times more likely to take their own lives. The study done by the London School of Tropical Medicine found through analyzing 5,799 men that are huge differences between generations of gay men.
According to the study: “It found that gay or bisexual men under the age of 26 are twice as likely to suffer from depression or anxiety and six times as likely to have attempted suicide or self-harm as men over the age of 45.”
It also found that lower incomes and lower levels of education are more likely to suffer from mental health problems.
