We already announced today that Lionsgate has pulled filming from North Carolina, and now a major announcement from PayPal proves that America’s businesses will not stand for the state’s anti-gay HB1 Law. PayPal was to expand into Charlotte, North Carolina by opening a global operations center in the city—creating nearly 400 jobs—but it announced that the state is no longer appropriate for its business. Dan Schulman, PayPayl’s president and chief executive, wrote in a statement: “The new law perpetuates discrimination and it violates the values and principles that are at the core of PayPal’s mission and culture…As a result, PayPal will not move forward with our planned expansion into Charlotte.” [WaPo]
