Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has ordered the Oklahoma National Guard to no longer process military benefits for gay and lesbian married couples. Fallin’s office claims that by extending these benefits it violates the state’s law banning gay marriage. Oklahoma now joins Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana to defy the Pentagon’s request by denying benefits to gay and lesbian couples at state-run facilities. Couples, though, can still apply at federal facilities. [Tulsa]
