President Obama’s designation today of Stonewall National Monument marks it the first national park site dedicated to LGBT history around Stonewall in New York City’s Greenwich Village.
As we celebrate #Pride Month, originally created to honor the 1969 Stonewall uprising, and with the 47th anniversary of the uprising next week on June 28, today’s designation of a national park site for Stonewall is equally timely and worthy.
National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) has worked for more than two years, in partnership with organizations and individuals in New York City and across the country, to make a #NatlParkForStonewall a reality. A full press release from NPCA on today’s historic designation is listed below.
