Pride is not just an event, it’s a way of life, an attitude, and a year-round celebration of love and acceptance. Luckily, pride events do happen around the world in every season, especially for those in the Southern Hemisphere who enjoy partying during their summer months. Here are some of the world’s best Pride parties that happen in the winter season.
Midsumma Pride Festival – Melbourne, Australia
In 2026, between Jan. 18 and Feb. 8, Melbourne will alight with the Midsumma Pride Festival, hosted by Australia’s premiere queer arts and cultural organization. Each year, Midsumma hosts a plethora of queer events centered around hidden and mainstream queer culture trends, and featuring local and international artists. In 2025, the festival hosted over 200 events. These included visual arts, live music, theatre, spoken word, cabaret, film, parties, sporting events, social mixers and public forums. This year watch out for the Midsumma Carnival taking place on Jan. 18. The Midsumma Pride March on Feb. 1 and Victoria’s Pride Street Party on Feb. 8.
Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras – Sydney, Australia
In Sydney, the festive Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras returns for another year Feb. 16 through March 3. And the 2026 celebration will be the festival’s 48th iteration. This festival is renowned for its epic schedule of events including pool parties, a gala ball, famed street parties, drag king gatherings, rainbow golf, art exhibitions, gay boxing, workshops and more.
Auckland Pride – Auckland, New Zealand
Auckland Pride is slated for Feb. 1-28 this year, yes, that’s a whole month of Pride including over 100 events across various mediums including theatre, cabaret, visual arts, live music, film, literature, debates, drag and burlesque, youth events, workshops, parties and more. On Feb. 21, the main Pride parade will take place, and the highly anticipated Big Gay Out, which takes place during the festival has seen upwards of 10,000 attendees enjoying music, food, dance and rainbow pride.
Cape Town Pride – South Africa
In Cape Town, an increasingly popular tourist hotspot, 2026 Pride will be celebrated between Feb. 5 and March 1. Pride events will include sporting events, a pride village, hikes and guided walks, wine tastings, epic drag events, a Pride parade, Mardi Gras celebrations and more. Plus, Cape Town is gearing up to host WorldPride in 2028, so festivities are sure to continue to ramp up.
Whistler Pride – Whistler, Canada
Whistler Pride will take place in 2026 January 25 through Feb. 1. What started out as a small weekend gathering for LGBTQ+ ski-enthusiasts in 1992 has snowballed into one of the world’s biggest queer-focused ski weeks. Events range from drag bingo to après ski parties, trivia nights, tea dances, pool parties, movie nights, and more. It’s the perfect cozy escape into a wintry landscape.
Winter Pride – St. Petersburg, Florida
Running Feb. 15 – 22, St. Petersburg, Florida hosts a winter pride party featuring a street festival, themed-dance parties, drag shows, food and drink, live entertainment, and more. This year, trans icon Dylan Mulvaney hosts the opening street festival with local vendors and entertainment. Add to this, bear celebrations, heated pool parties, and polar plunges. And make sure to bring your pup along to enjoy dog-friendly events like a puppy foam party and street festival on Feb. 15.
