After tying the knot with same-sex marriage this year, Puerto Vallarta will welcome visitors once again to its beachy gayborhood, La Zona Romantica, and across its sandy shores for the 4th Annual Vallarta Pride.
With a motto of “We are one family,” this year’s two-week festival, running from May 16 to 30, will bring an estimated 15,000 visitors out to celebrate a landmark year for Mexican LGBTs, most notably with January’s big win for marriage equality. In June of last year, Mexico’s Supreme Court ruled that a failure to recognize gay and lesbian couples was also unconstitutional, paving the way for same-sex weddings across Jalisco this year.
At the region’s biggest Pride festival, travelers can expect circuit parties, fashion shows, a drag derby, and much more in addition to more action at Puerto Vallarta’s many LGBT-friendly bars, restaurants, and hotels.
