Quebec has a colorful way to usher in the Olympics as Montreal City Hall, Quebec City’s City Hall, and the Olympic Stadium will show their support of the LGBT community in Russia with rainbow flags. A flag is set to fly over city hall, while the tower of Montreal’s Olympic Stadium will light up in rainbow colors. “What I don’t like is that legislation in Russia against gays and lesbians,” said Mayor Denis Coderre.
Quebec was inspired by St. John’s, Newfoundland where the city council voted unanimously to support LGBT rights in Russia by flying a rainbow flag over their city hall. [CBC]
