San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Cancels Global Tour To Visit Red States

After this tumultuous and divisive election, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus has decided to cancel their global tour, and to instead tour the red states that brought Donald Trump to victory.

The original plan was to tour China, Cuba, and other countries where gay rights are still struggling to be recognized. However, Chorus Director Tim Seelig said, “In response to the election, we decided we have as much work to do at home as we would do abroad. We want to go to those places that are still strongholds of this kind of discrimination and bigotry. And bring our voice. And encourage people there with our music. And also hopefully change some hearts and minds.”

The tour will take place in 2018, so keep an eye out for their upcoming tour schedule! Watch their new video below, which pays homage to the fight for gay rights with a cover of ‘Light’ from Broadway musical Next to Normal.
