In another sign of the changing demographics of San Francisco, a staple of the gay community, the Nob Hill Adult Theater has shut its doors after 50 years. The final all-male revue held its last performance yesterday, after hosting all-nude male shows since the 60s when businessman Shan Sayles took it over.
The venue, while a center for late-night raucous, is probably most famous for its sign that proudly displayed “Touch Our Junk” on its marquee.
Luce, one of the newer owners said that he got the idea to advertise the premise with “Touch Our Junk” after he overhead a TSA agent’s exchange with an angry passenger. “You’re not gonna touch my junk!” the passenger said.
