Since the horrific earthquake in 2010 that shook Haiti to the core, people there are still living in terrible conditions. Cholera has sickened tens of thousands, and many more people have no access to clean water and toilets. Perhaps, the most widespread implication of the dreadful earthquake is homelessness. In fact, over 400,000 Haitians still live in displacement camps. The earthquake destroyed approximately 175,000 homes and since then, only 13,198 homes have been rebuilt, and only 4,747 new homes have been constructed. For that reason, Change.org has started a petition, asking the government to stop all forced evictions in these displacement camps until affordable housing is provided to the earthquake victims.
