Katie Couric didn’t makes friends in the LGBT community after she interviewed RuPaul’s Drag Race Star and transgender model Carmen Carrera in 2014 after the newswoman asked some invasive and inappropriate questions on her daytime show Katie. Despite this on-air faux-pas, she isn’t giving up on her questions surrounding the transgender community as well as gender-fluid individuals.
Couric’s special, Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric will air on the National Geographic Channel and as Couric meet individuals from around the US and tries to chisel away at the complex nature of gender.
In a first look, Couric is seen with author Sam Killerman who explains his philosophy of the Gingerbread Person.
According to ThinkProgress: “The documentary premiered at a screening in Washington, D.C. last week to a very appreciative audience. Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, was not subtle about how powerful the film was. ‘This is going to save lives,’ she said.”
The documentary, premiers tonight February 6 at 9:00 P.M. on the National Geographic Channel.
