Can Air New Zealand do any wrong when it comes to in-flight safety videos? After all, they were the ones who put fun back into the historically dull safety videos with spots that included a “naked” video, Betty White, Richard Simmons, and even the Hobbit. Now the airline has partnered with Sports Illustrated’s iconic Swimsuit franchise to produce Safety in Paradise that was shot in the Cook Islands and features some of the biggest names in modeling, including Chrissy Teigen, Ariel Meredith, Hannah Davis, and Jessica Gomes. The airline doesn’t forget Sports Illustrated’s history as the original bikini babe Christie Brinkley has a special guest appearance.
This year, the annual franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary and will also feature the first non-living beauty…Barbi. The iconic doll will sport an updated version of her original 1959 black-and-white bathing suit in a photo shot by Walter Iooss Jr. According to NBC the Barbi campaign will be “Coupled with a new hashtag campaign, “#unapologetic”… a way for Mattel, which recently reported Barbie’s worldwide gross sales were down 13 percent, to stir up and seize back an ongoing cultural conversation over Barbie’s body image.”
