As we learn more and more about the socially liberal politics of the Millennials, we know that they are not going to stand for an anti-gay, ignorant company like Chick-Fil-A to remain on their college campuses. Students from seven schools across the country have launched petitions on Change.org in the past 48 hours demanding the removal or prevention of Chick-fil-A franchises on their campuses following this week’s media blitz over the fast food chain’s public stance against same-sex marriage. The petitions target officials at the University of Illinois, University of Kansas, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Ball State University, College of Charleston, Wichita State University, and Minnesota State University.
While these schools are new to the movement, New York University has been working to get their Aramark’s partnered Chick-fil-A off their campus (even when I was a student there). The petition launched on Change.org attracted nearly 15,000 signatures, sparking protests against Chick-fil-A’s presence that continue to roil the campus.
