A Texas restaurant is on blast for using trans-insensitive bathroom signs that use a door-size picture of Caitlyn Jenner to mark the women’s room and a picture of Bruce Jenner for the men’s room. Some loyal customer’s felt that the door signs of Dodie’s Place Cajun Bar and Grill in Allen, Texas were a creative joke, but most, including an army of Yelp users are slamming the restaurant as “offensive,” insensitive,” and “disgusting.”
Mocking someone’s lifelong struggle to live his or her truth is not acceptable. Even if the restaurant didn’t mean any harm by the signs, they must understand that the transgender struggle should never be used as a “creative joke.”
