The Academy Award–winning documentary, The Times of Harvey Milk, has been added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, making it one of the few LGBT–based films in the catalog. The 1984 documentary will now join other gay and lesbian films like Midnight Cowboy, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Eaux d’Artifice. “Thank you, Joe Biden,” said distributor Dennis Doros, of Milestone Film & Video. “I suspect that the tide of the country has changed, and that the acceptance by the vice president and the president of gay rights might have sent a message to the entire government, not just the Library of Congress.”
