‘The Weight’ Wins Queer Lion Award at Venice Film Festival

Five  years ago, the Venice Film Festival followed Berlinale’s Teddy Award by creating their very own queer cinema prize called The Queer Lion Award. This year, a Korean film about a young hunchback working in a morgue and his trans sister called The Weight took home the coveted prize. Directed by Jeon Kyu-hwan, the film took home one of the first prizes of the festival for “accurately portray[ing] lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender characters.”
