A gay Syrian refugee living in Turkey was viciously murdered, leaving a country stunned and a community angry. The man went missing on July 23, but was found two days later in Yenikapi, Istanbul—his friends only being able to identify him by his pants.
According to CNN reporting, he was “…threatened, kidnapped and raped” repeatedly in the past, but nothing was done to protect him.
“We complained to the Police HQ, they did not do anything.”
“ASAM (Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants) and the UN don’t do anything for us. We can only protect ourselves. We stay together to protect ourselves. We cannot get any information or answers. Just talk… ASAM called us after [name redacted] death. After his death…What’s the point? A very pure and good person is gone from this world.” [koasgl]
