Things Get Worse for India’s Gay Community: Government to Open AA-Like Centers

If it wasn’t bad enough for the LGBT community in India after a court recriminalized homosexual acts, things seems to be getting worse thanks to a new government plan. Indian officials want to open re-education centers that, according to state-level minister Ramesh Tawadkar, “…will make LGBT youth normal.” He continues; “We will have a center for them … like Alcoholics Anonymous centers. We will train them and [give them] medicines too.” In a document, the plan lists “stigmatized” LGBT youth as the highest priority group that needs the most attention. [Haaretz]
