A plea by a bisexual Jamaican man was rejected by a court in Leeds, UK after he warned them that he will face persecution if he were to return to the island nation. Pat McCusker, who is supporting Orashia Edwards case, said: “I believe that he is at significant risk of homophobic persecution should he be deported to Jamaica.” Edwards left Jamaica 14 years ago to Antigua, but was blackmailed over his sexuality prompting him to seek asylum in the UK. The asylum rejection has the man returning to Jamaica tomorrow morning, but his lawyers are now seeking help from the European Court of Human Rights. [PinkNews]
