Our Unlikely Gay Hero ‘The Babadook’ Returns to Theaters this Pride Season for Charity

When the storybook monster that scared its way to the top of the box office hit screens in 2014, no one would have ever guessed that the terrifying creature would become an unofficial mascot of the LGBT community (thanks to a snafu by Netflix). But now, the indie film is embracing its monster’s new-found fame by returning the film to a theater in Los Angeles in order to raise funds for LGBT charities.

Starting tomorrow through the 27th, the Arena Cinelounge will host screenings of the film along with a panel discussion “Babashook: From Monster to Cultural Icon” and the events are encouraging fans to dress in their best Babadook drag.
