A new public service campaign from the Ad Council for a group called The Gill Foundation called “Beyond I Do” is raising awareness about the continued discrimination that many LGBT people. Despite being allowed to marry, discrimination has risen by 11% with it being completely legal to discriminate in 31 states. The ad hopes to educate the some 80% of Americans who are unaware of this.
Three real-life couples are featured: Jimmie who was fired from his teaching job for marrying Mindy, Aaron and Shaun whose wedding announcement was refused by a local paper, and Krista and Jami whose six-year-old daughter was denied care.
