Out actor Wilson Cruz (13 Reasons Why, Star Trek: Discovery) will be honored for his advocacy work in the LGBT community next month at the 11th Annual ADCOLOR awards. He has worked as the Director of Entertainment Industry Partnerships, the National Spokesperson for GLAAD, and executive produced the docu-series Out of the Box: How America Came Out on TV. Cruz has had a long and continued career as an out actor in television and films.
ADCOLOR is the premier organization celebrating and promoting professionals of color and diversity in the creative industries. They believe that, “the world is stagnant with sameness.” They nominate and award people in the industry who are change-makers and innovators when it comes to diversity.
The event being held on September 19 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Aisha Tyler (Criminal Minds). Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) will also be honored with Lena Waithe (Master of None), Janet Mock (Surpassing Certainty), and more presenting.
