London’s BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival, from March 19-29, shows films by LGBT filmmakers, films with gay themes. Screened by the renowned British Film Institute, the festival is a road program of the best new international LGBT cinema, along with historical/classical/cult favorites. This will be its 29th year, so come celebrate all the boundaries this festival has been working to break. This year, experience way more than sitting in a dark theater, there will also be discussions, dancer performances, debates, and, of course, parties (including a Rocky Horror Party and a Warrior Women Party [Where’s our Buffy costume?]).
Some of the highlights this year include the opening night film I am Michael stars Zachary Quinto and James Franco; Inappropriate Behavior about an Iranian-American woman; and Dressed as a Girl a film that lifts the veil on London’s best-known drag queens.
