Out of the Blue, the a capella group of Oxford University, is celebrating the holiday season by doing their own rendition of Elton John’s popular Christmas hit ‘Step Into Christmas’.
The group has performed numerous Christmas songs in the past, including Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’, ‘I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday’ by Wizzard, ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham, and many more.
Their new version of ‘Step Into Christmas’ is a charity single that’s raising money for the Helen and Douglas House, a nonprofit that cares for terminally ill children and their families. Out of the Blue says that to date they’ve raised £100,000 for the house.Â
The group’s website states, “Out of the Blue have proudly supported the charity for the last fifteen years, donating all of our annual profits to them after costs, and regularly visiting the hospice during term time to sing to the families and staff. The support provided there is astonishing and the optimistic tirelessness of all the staff leaves us in awe after every visit. It’s a wonderful place and it holds a special place in all our hearts.”
To date, the group has over 72,000 followers on YouTube and has amassed over 17 million total views of their videos.
