Rolling Stone has reported that Cyndi Lauper is set to receive the first-ever High Note Global Prize. The award, created through a collaboration between the United Nations and the High Note Global Initiative, is designed to celebrate musicians who use their talents to help further human rights around the world.
Lauper will receive the award during the 9th annual Home for the Holidays benefit concert, being held at the Novo in Los Angeles on December 10th. The event features a star-studded line-up of musicians, comedians, and entertainers, including, Brandi Carlile, Billy Porter, Lily Tomlin, Marilyn Manson, Margaret Cho, and many others, all of whom will dazzle the crowd with excellent music, hilarious comedy, and a night they’ll never forget. The show will be hosted by Carson Kressley and proceeds will go to help Luaper’s nonprofit True Colors United, dedicated to ending LGBTQ youth homelessness.
To highlight the night, Kesha will present Lauper with the inaugural award.
According to Broadway World, Laurent Sauveur, Chief External Outreach, UN Human Rights, said, “We are proud to support The High Note Global Initiative in an effort to galvanize global mobilization for human rights, and at the same time honor artists who passionately use their work to promote and protect the rights of others.”
After the award is presented to Lauper, it will go on display The Grammy Museum at LA Live.
