Orbitz has long been an ally to the LGBTQ community, and in recent years they’ve really increased their commitment by launching their own LGBTQ Travel webpage. However, Orbitz has now gone one step further, creating an LGBTQ-inclusive travel tool for visitors to use in order to find lodgings that have expressively committed to being safe and welcoming properties for all.
The best part is that after announcing the campaign, Orbitz saw more than 35,000 properties opt-in to the initiative. Everyone from large resort chains to independent and boutique hotels have joined the effort to commit themselves to diverse and inclusive travel.
A few properties that joined in include Disney’s Grand Floridian; the W Seattle; St. Regis, Aspen; The Ritz-Carlton, Waikiki; and many more.
When searching properties on Orbitz, simply click the “LGBTQ Welcoming” button to filter the results.
Furthermore, to celebrate Pride Month, Orbitz is rewarding everyone who supports LGBTQ-inclusive establishments with two promotions:
-
Visitors who reserve a stay at an LGBTQIA-welcoming hotel on Orbitz.com/Pride June 15th – 21st will receive $50 back in Orbucks. Orbucks are travel dollars equal to $1 USD that can be redeemed on future hotel stays booked through Orbitz.
-
Additionally, anyone who supports an LGBTQIA-owned business this month is eligible to receive $100 in Orbucks. Celebrities Jonathan Bennett and Stacy London are collaborating with Orbitz to spotlight their favorite queer-owned shops and restaurants, including Chicken Ranch in Palm Springs and Blue Stocking Bookstore in NYC. The offer, available at Orbitz.com/Pride, is capped at the first 500 people.
