Australia’s High Court overturned  a piece of legislation that briefly allowed gay and lesbian marriage in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). ACT, which passed a bill in October that allowed for same-sex couples to marry, saw around 27 couples tie the knot in the brief window, but because the territory’s marriage law was inconsistent with federal law, the legislation was overturned. The court’s ruling now invalidates all same-sex marriage licenses issued. The court’s ruling stated that the issue of same-sex marriage should be decided upon by the parliament. [BBC]
