While all eyes were on the birth of the royal baby, another news story out of the UK went undetected, and one that will probably affect you more than the birth of a baby. Prime Minister David Cameron announced a plan that would automatically add “porn filters” to every British home and work computer. Though, rest-assured, topless photos like the girls on page three of The Sun will be left untouched. In order to protect children from images that are “corroding childhood,” Cameron announced that Internet service providers would automatically introduce family-friendly filters that will block porn. Though, households can choose to opt out of the block. According to the Independent:

But his proposals were criticized by anti-censorship groups, who warned that sites about sexual health and sexuality could inadvertently get caught up in the ban.

Significantly, Mr Cameron admitted there would be “problems down the line” with the system – and appeared to rule out “soft” or written pornography from the scheme entirely.
