Billy Gilman, who came out publicly in 2014, surprised all four of The Voice judges with a rousing rendition of Adele’s “When We Were Young.” Gilman became a massive childhood success with his song “One Voice” in 2000, ultimately becoming the youngest singer to have a Top 40 hit on the country charts.
‘I started out as a young country artist and had great success … to finally be here in a moment where I can finally sing the way I so badly wanted to even then, and to finally stand here and be amongst you, it truthfully is such an honor,’ he said on the stage.
Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton both knew the star when he revealed his name, but the battle for who would coach him was won by Adam Levine.
Now that the singer has made it all the way to the semifinals, it appears like it’s Billy’s game to lose.
Watch his incredible, incredible performance that had the entire crowd and the judges standing in applause.
