Bradley Manning Billboards Erected in Washington D.C. and Kansas City

Bradley Manning has a $16,000 a month billboard put up in his honor in Washington D.C. The billboard has his face, with the tag-line: “Blowing the whistle on war crimes, is not a crime.” A similar billboard has also been placed in Kansas City.

The billboard in Washington is strategically placed en route to Fort Meade, where he is scheduled to appear later this month for trial, and the billboard in Kansas City is strategically placed near Fort Leavenworth in Kansas City, where he was held before trials.

Manning, who is accused of leaking government material to WikiLeaks, is on trial for revealing information that many feel the public has a right to see.

Jeff Paterson of the Bradley Manning Support Network said that the military is trying to categorize Manning as someone who broke the law, and should be sent to jail for the rest of his life for it, but that he and the support group have a different opinion.

Both billboards have been placed in specific locations, to gather support for Manning during the trial.  [WP]
