Weir sure going to miss flamboyantly fabulous figure skater Johnny Weir at this year’s Olympics in Sochi as the bedazzled two-time Olympian forgot to register. The deadline to register for the qualifiers was September 1 and despite Weir’s strong performance at past Olympic events, the committee will not make an exception to the rules for Weir. “According to US Figure Skating rules, only skaters who placed in the top five at last year’s nationals or who won medals at the most recent Olympics or world championships are eligible for byes,” the AP writes. While many in the figure-skating world weren’t expecting Weir to compete at the 2014 Olympics because of his age (29), which is considered fairly old by Olympic standards, Weir has made several comments in the media about competing in Russia this year. Proclaiming in 2012 that he’s back to training and then more recently making the news rounds about the possibility of getting arrested in Russia.
