Two very famous queens have taken up residency in Greece this summer;
Elaine Lancaster, Star of the Real Housewives of Miami and drag queen extraordinaire, and the iconic queen of New York nightlife, founder of Wigstock, and former judge on RuPaul’s Drag U, Lady Bunny.
From July 29th – August 22nd, the ladies have been emceeing, DJing, and performing at the @54 Lounge & Club Mykonos alongside resident diva Roxy Brooks.
Yet Lancaster has done more than simply entertain in Mykonos, she’s also saved a life.
The first Friday of their gig, Lancaster pulled a young Italian man from a burning car just before it went up in flames, causing her to be dubbed a “shero”.
Lancaster noticed the car had burned its clutch from inside her kitchen around one in the morning, notifying the three passengers that she could smell fire. While the other two passengers abandoned the car, the third needed assistance.
Lancaster said this in an interview with the Miami Herald, “The guy on the passenger side, he sees fire coming out of the hood. It’s almost like he hypnotized. He’s frozen. He keeps staring at the hood.”
This prompted Lancaster, dressed as a boy, to run to the man’s aid, pulling him out of the car.
“Some people handle stress differently. He snapped out of it in the house and said, ‘You saved my life.’”
