A new fundraising effort has just been launch on gofundme that we think you should know about.

It’s called #Pizza4Equality, and here’s what the person who started it has to say:

There is much disgust and consternation in the LGBT community over a viral fundraiser effort that has, as of this writing, earned $842,387. Many have lamented, “If only our cause could raise that much money that fast.” I say, yes, we can. So I looked and saw that Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund has set April 29 as the first national #40toNoneDay  to end LGBT youth homelessness! And I thought, would it not be totally awesome if we equality supporters (and pizza lovers) could match that #MemoriesPizza  “charity” by April 29?  Can we match their amount and help homeless youth get off the street, learn life skills and get an education and jobs?

I’m a dreamer, but I say yes, we can!

All proceeds will go to The True Colors Fund which works to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth, creating a world in which young people can be their true selves.

When you make your donation to #Pizza4Equality make sure to read some of the comments. One of our favorites, which puts this issue in perspective, can be read on the next page, Feel free to share it, and please tell your friends about #Pizza4Equality.

Every single gay kid in Indiana is looking at what’s going on and trust me they are absorbing all of it. They’re seeing people pay money to register their hatred of gay people with their donations to Memories Pizza. Don’t think for a minute these kids don’t get it. What you can do in response is give some money to this cause, it will help homeless kids in Indiana, many of them thrown out of their homes by their parents, get off the streets, get job skills and get employed. Please consider this, any amount helps. And thanks Scott Wooledge for running point on this.
