Visit New Orleans shows us in a new ad that diversity and progress move us forward, and warns of a colorless, gliter-less, music-less, joyless, and Mardi Gras-less world if we don’t fight to keep the parade marching on.
The ad titled “Reverse Parade” was posted on Facebook and gives us a surreal look at a celebration in the city’s French Quarter as a party atmosphere takes a Twilight Zone turn and slowly reverses. The drum lines quiet, drag queens fall into the shadows, make-up is removed, and gay couples slowly separate. As one drummer is left, the crowd reappears with a sign that reads: “We’re Never Going Back.”
Watch the short film directed by Trent Jaklitsch:
A Reverse Parade. Hundreds of people gathered during Mardi Gras to demonstrate that New Orleans welcomes all.
