What Were They Thinking? ‘Tranny Granny’ Halloween Costume Removed from Online Retailers

After a massive public outcry over a ludicrously offensive Halloween costume called “Tranny Granny” being sold on e-retailer websites, Walmart, Target, and Amazon have finally pulled the not-very-funny-just-offensive costume. The costume was placed on the websites via a third-party retailer called Rasta Imposta, who have since renamed the costume to “Manny Granny.”

The costume, which includes a “butt and boob pad,” is just another reminder that we have lots of work to do to advance acceptance of our LGBT family, and make sure your costume is all in good fun and not offensive.

“This was a third party Marketplace item,” Ravi Jariwala, a media relations representative from Walmart, told the publication LGBTQNation. “While it’s listed on other sites, it clearly violates our policy and was quickly removed once we were notified. We’re appalled this seller put it on our site to begin with.”
