Orbitz Launches New LGBTQ Ad Campaign

Today, Orbitz has launched their new ad campaign, Travel As You Are, shot by the famed Cass Bird. Bird, a member of the LGBTQ community, has shot for famous brands like Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Nike, Levi’s, and more. Now, Bird is bringing their talents to Orbitz to celebrate pride.

The new ad campaign sees LGBTQ couples traveling freely, loving freely, and enjoying all the gorgeous destinations that the world has to offer. The ad campaign is a beautiful array of diversity, inclusion, self-love, and queer pride.

In a statement, Cass Bird said, “I wanted to work on this spot, and was excited to have been given the opportunity to create a visual world that mirrors what I am invested in making a reality. A world where we can take up space, are free to love and be welcomed everywhere, a place where we don’t have to disguise and hide our true selves because of who we choose to love. I aspire to create work where myself and others who identify as LGBTQ+ are being seen.”

The music for the new ad campaign is provided by indie sensation Serpentwithfeet, who has crafted a beautiful rendition of the classic, “You Don’t Own Me”. The song sets the tone for the freedom and the power that the ad proclaims.

Orbitz has long been an ally to the LGBTQ community and recently launched their very own Orbitz Pride microsite, which is filled with tons of info like LGBTQ-welcoming properties, fun listicles, travel advice, and more.

The new Travel As You Are campaign also signifies a special moment in the history of Orbitz. It was 20 years ago that Orbitz launched its first LGBTQ print ad (in PASSPORT Magazine we are proud to say), which encouraged everyone of all sexualities and genders to explore the world. Now, as the pandemic comes to a close, these words seem to ring ever more true today, as the whole world is excited to get back out and explore all the wonderful, exciting, relaxing, and adventurous destinations on the planet.
