LGBTQ+ families pack your bags for Provincetown’s annual Family Week hosted by Family Equality from July 26 to August 2. This fun-filled week unites families from across the country and beyond for story-telling, community-building, educational sessions, beachside fun, and a Family Pride Parade.
Family Equality, a nonprofit advocating for LGBTQ+ families collaborates with COLAGE for this special event, the largest celebration of queer families in the world. This Ptown tradition began over 30 years ago and has grown from just a few participating families to more than 600 expected in 2025.
“In a world that can feel heavy, Family Week is pure light,” says Darra Gordon, CEO of Family Equality. “It’s a place where our kids see families like theirs everywhere they turn, where parents exhale and connect, and where joy fuels our strength. It’s what we all need right now, and I can’t wait to celebrate with every family who joins us in Provincetown. But it doesn’t stop there. Family week is part of our broader mission to uplift, empower, and advocate for LGBTQ+ families, year-round, creating lasting impact that goes far beyond one week of connection.”
New to the event this year is “Family Night Out” a block party that takes over Commercial Street with community celebration. Other highlights of the week include a beach bash, regional, BIPOC, mulitracial, trans and nonbinary family meet-ups, drag queen story hour with Tara Hoot, author talks and education panels, and the parade down Commercial Street.
“Families leave Family Week with a full heart and renewed sense of purpose and community,” says Gordon. “It’s more than a fun week at the beach. It’s transformational.”
