In a letter signed by over 300 New York Times contributors, with a number of them identifying as trans and nonbinary, they stated: “the Times has in recent years treated gender diversity with an eerily familiar mix of pseudoscience and euphemistic, charged language,” and that recent reporting has omitted some source’s associations with anti-trans groups. An NYC law student has been reported missing after being in Hell’s Kitchen. Jordan Taylor, 29, a first-year law student at the City University of New York dissappeared on January 6. According to his brother Alton Taylor, he was at The Q, a gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, just before he went missing. His phone and wallet were located in the early hours of the morning on Jan. 7 in separate areas. The UK has blocked legislation that would allow trans people in Scotland to change their gender without a medical diagnosis. Under the current system, trans people in Scotland must have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, a condition proven by a mismatch between a person’s body and gender identity. They must also show proof of living as their chosen gender for at least two years, and be at least 18 years old. A North Dakota house bill banning drag performances has advanced to the Senate, and the Human Rights Campaign is speaking up. House Bill 1133 is an anti-LGBTQ+ bill restricting drag performances in the state of North Dakota. The new bill would classify drag performances as adult-oriented entertainment that cannot be done on public property, or in places where people under the age of 18 are present.
